BOLD and Accountable Leadership for cleveland heights

Community Forums and Meetings

Citizens for an Elected Mayor holds community forums and participates in house meetings to discuss the merits of changing the structure of Cleveland Heights city government to a full-time, elected mayor.

Turnout has been very encouraging. More than 70 Cleveland Heights residents attended our first community forum held on February 27, 2019 at the Lee Road Library, and more that 30 attended the March 14, 2019 public forum at Noble Road Library.

Our primary goal for these forums and meetings is to listen. We want to know what the citizens of Cleveland Heights think of their city government.

Here's what Community Forum Participants Have Said So Far:

On what works well in Cleveland Heights city government:

"Police Department is strong, responsive, visible, and credible. Crime is down 28 percent."
"Police Chief -- excellent communication."
"Police outreach and social media presence."
"Public works, fire, and police always have fast response time."
"Trash collection, leaf pick-up, snow removal"
"Focus magazine."
“Cumberland Pool and Cain Park.”
"Snow removal, shredding."
“The Senior Center.”
"Fire and police department are doing well -- Meet the Police Night functions well."
"Bicycle infrastructure improvement."

"Severance! Do something!"
"Lee and Coventry -- lack of support for economic development."
"Taylor and Noble roads commercial development."
"We need massive economic development and creation of real jobs at good salaries."

Infrastructure and housing
"Major sewer issues."
“Transportation to link Cleveland Heights with major employers at University Hospitals and the Cleveland Clinic.”

“Current system is far too slow.”
"We don't know what's going on."

Leadership
"No one is steering the boat."
“An elected mayor would be able to talk mayor-to-mayor.”
